Yesterday afternoon, I ventured across the pond (Lake Michigan) on the eve of my 20th birthday to attend the Heineken-sponsored listening session for Wiz Khalifa’s upcoming major label debut (March 29) at Chicago Recording Studios. The guest list was airtight; so much so that even The Cool Kids’ entrance was slightly delayed as a result of a comical misunderstanding. Slowly but surely, industry folk of the Midwest started packing into the empty spaces of this gorgeous establishment. Wings began to flutter as the social butterflies of the bunch exchanged business cards, contact information, and general coversation about what else, but music; especially that of Wiz Khalifa. Meanwhile, an assortment of tunes belonging to the smoked-out rapper poured out of speakers located in every direction. Making an honest effort to fulfill his seamless itinerary in an orderly fashion, the Pittsburgh representer was able to roll up to the Windy City building with just enough time to host an event that can only be described by one word: Taylor! Rolling Papers burns up the shelves March 29!
