As part of an XXL feature, Sam Adams recently spoke with the publication about his early inspirations to begin rapping, the origins of his electronic influences, potential collaborations, the science behind his non-traditional Hip-Hop sound, and continued consistency. Read it all in the words of Boston’s Boy below . . .
Sam Adams samples Christina Perri’s “Jar Of Hearts” and documents the adversity he’s had to overcome in the early stages of his career, which—spanning just over one year—has already seen a great deal of sucess! Whatever you do, don’t let this letter become lost in the mail!
Last night, my “Feature Artist” Sam Adams had the pleasure of meeting KiD CuDi and Kanye West in Ye’s NYC recording studio! Mr. West previewed material from his much anticipated upcoming joint album with Jay-Z—currently scheduled for a late March release—and Sam has since satisfied hopes of many Hip-Hop enthusiasts: “Watch The Throne tracks are outta control”, Adams expressed on his Facebook page in conjunction with sharing the image above. In my talks with Sam’s manager, Alex Stern, I discovered that Sam didn’t record any music with either of the G.O.O.D. Music representers. However, fans of Boston’s Boy remain at the edge of their seats in anticipation of a Cudder collaboration. During our September interview, Sam had the following to say in regards to his forthcoming full-length debut album features:
Who do you got lined up for features?
Not sure yet. We’re still sort of figuring everything out. You know, whether or not we’re gonna sign a major deal for this next album sort of depends on the buzz of the mixtape.
I heard you might be looking at CuDi.
Yeah. We’re goin’ to talk to CuDi. Thinkin’ about, you know, CuDi; J. Cole; gettin’ a bunch of, like, big DJs to sort of co-sign the music — might get some productions there.
Currently on tour, Boston’s Boy will be coming home Saturday for a sure-to-be-special show at Endicott College! In the meantime, here’s the latest offering from Sam Adams, in which he documents his experiences on the road over Diddy’s Last Train To Paris fruits of labor. Unfortunately, there’s no download link available. For now, hit the jump for the YouTube clip . . .
U like, they like, we all like new material from my “Feature Artist”, Sam Adams! Aside from getting a very noticeable haircut, Sammy has remained relatively quiet since the smoke that followed the release of his latest mixtape, Party Records, finally cleared — due to the constraints of touring. However, Boston’s Boy found time to provide the vocals for track No. 13 of Grammy award-winning producer Doc Ish’s new album, The First Treatment, which is currently available on iTunes!
“Can a dude be Hip-Hop and Electronic/ Dubstep and Pop music all in one product?” – Sam Adams
For the very first time, two of my affilliated “Feature Artists”—Collin McLoughlin and Sam Adams—have joined forces and collaborated with one another! Personally, I’ve been sitting on this track for months. Now, the new single from Mr. McLoughlin’s debut album, Ambiguity—which will be released for free on January 26th—has been unleashed to the rest of the world! Support Collin and purchase “Monster” on iTunes! Here’s a message from the man, himself:
“I am hoping that people who support what I do and have downloaded my previous songs for free and will be downloading my album Ambiguity for free when it is released on January 26, 2011, will be willing to spend one dollar of their money to purchase one song to support me in this small way.“
Here are two new tracks from the homie Sam Adams! In the first one, he spits over a simple beat backed by electric guitar and accompanied by a sample of The Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations”. In the second, Sam sticks to his pioneered formula by rapping over dubstep producer Mt. Eden’s “Sierra Leone” instrumental. Sam sounds a bit heated in “Lion’s Den” and although I believe I know why, I’m going to reserve my theory. Those hip to the movement will likely share the same speculation. Props to @Psmirf for sending these through! Cop the tagless version of Boston’s Boy’s latest mixtape here!
Sidenote: I recently discussed potentially conducting a second Sam Adams interview with his manager Alex Stern, which will likely be going down at the Detroit leg of Sammy’s Party Records Tour November 23rd! Stay tuned . . .
UPDATE: Just spoke with Mr. Stern about the track. He says Sam wasn’t the least bit heated and they’re not concerned with what “that guy” does. Some, but not all of you know who is being referred to. I’m going to leave it that way because certain promotion isn’t deserved.
Here’s a clip of Sam Adams reciting a verse on his Blackberry, which was later used for “Fly Jets Over Boston”, a collaboration with Curren$y. A portion of this clip was included on his recent video teaser.
Here is a pretty cool summary of footage from the wild journey Sam Adams has experienced over the coarse of these last months. I’m not completely sure what this is a teaser for, but it would appear as though Sammy has some sort of Documentary video on the way! Be on the look out for much more footage in the coming weeks!
Oh, you thought the party was over? Not hardly!
