Damon Campbell Interviews Casey Veggies, Josh Peas, & Anwar Carrots

After being called a “young Nardwuar” during my interview with Action Bronson, I was anxious to see how people—especially folks within the industry—would react. Thankfully, the feedback thus far has been overwhelmingly supportive.

Nardwuar himself even reached out and not only expressed his approval, but even gave me a public endorsement of sorts. “That was awesome!” tweeted the Human Serviette after watching his, dare I say, protégé in action. Hey, you know what they say: If the shoe fits, wear it.

Speaking of which, when Big K.R.I.T.’s ‘Live From the Underground’ tour kicked off in Detroit, I caught up with supporting act Casey Veggies following his meet and greet at Burn Rubber Sneaker Boutique.

The 19-year-old Los Angeles rapper was flanked by his close friends and business partners, Josh Peas and Anwar Carrots of the clothing and management company Peas & Carrots International, for what he called his “best interview” to date. Undoubtedly high praise, particularly coming from an artist who was previously interviewed by…you guessed it: Nardwuar.

Casey Veggies – ‘Live From the Underground’ Tour (Week 1)

Casey Veggies hit the road with Big K.R.I.T. last week for the “Live From the Underground” tour, which kicked off in Detroit. The Peas & Carrots MC, who recently inked a management deal with Roc Nation, stopped into Burn Rubber for a meet and greet and an interview with yours truly before hitting the stage at St. Andrews later that evening.

The 27-date trek will continue to travel the country before wrapping on August 12 in Tampa, Florida.

Sidenote: Special thanks to Ryan Mayle, who shot and edited the clip, for including a sneak peak of our interview (2:05 mark). Stay tuned for the full thing!
